Gardone Riviera - History
Thanks to the discovery of several tablets in the Fasano area we can say that the area of Gardone Riviera was already inhabited during the Roman era; there is proof of some Longobard settlements around the 7th century, the area came under the rule of the bishop of Brescia and from the sixteenth century onwards it became an integral part of the Magnifica Patria, which requested the help of the Venetians to ward off the invasions by the Visconti. From 1521 onwards the territory of Gardone Riviera became part of the Venetian territories. From 1921 to 1938 Gardone was the home of poet Gabriele d'Annunzio.
